Fall Travel

The end of summer means the end of summer travel. But the good news is that fall travel is here and we’re pretty convinced this is the best time of year to book a trip. Even though living in SpringHouse Village and Fairway Villas can feel like you live in a vacation destination year-round, it’s good to get out and explore the beauty in other areas around the world. So we curated a “best-of” list for autumn travel for our active residents.

Boston, Massachusetts
Visit this East Coast city in October and November and you’ll catch fall foliage season. Boston Common and Public Garden are two popular places to see stunning reds, golds, and oranges. While there, you should also hit up historic Plymouth, the birthplace of Thanksgiving.

Kauai, Hawaii
Like the rest of Hawaii, Kauai’s climate barely changes month to month, with temperatures holding in the mid-70s. But this lush and serene land is mostly crowd-free and fall is one of the cheapest times of the year to fly there.

Chiang Mai, Thailand
In northern Thailand, two iconic festivals are held on the actual full moon this autumn. You can release lanterns into the sky for Yi Peng or send baskets bearing candles into a gentle river for Loy Krathong. While there, hit the street markets, sample the local cuisine, and rent a scooter for nearby mountain roads.

Sydney, Australia
Every fall, the streets of Sydney turn purple as the jacaranda trees take bloom for their springtime. The heat of summer doesn’t hit until December, so November is an ideal off season window for travel. While there, catch the largest free sculpture exhibition in the world.

Havana, Cuba
November is the start of dry season in Havana, which means you’ll get plenty of sunshine and clear skies as you explore this exotic spot. A few popular sites include the seaside El Malécon Boulevard, the picturesque Old Havana district, and the stunning architecture of Plaza de la Catedral.

Punta Cana, Dominican Republic
If you’re looking for a tropical getaway with warm weather, crystal-clear water, and snorkeling/diving options, then Punta Cana is your destination. The end of November is an ideal time to visit – it’s the end of hurricane season and both airfare and hotels are significantly cheaper this time of year.

Hopefully this list will inspire an unforgettable autumn vacation in some of the top destinations in the world. Where do you normally vacation when you travel in the fall? We want to know, so send us your suggestions!
