Learn to ride RTD’s Light Rail in Denver, CO

Denver LightrailDenver’s Light Rail system makes it easy for adults 55 and older to travel without the hassle and expense of driving. The Regional Transportation District (RTD) has a station near The Reserve, Aurora’s newest 55+ Community, called The 61st and Pena Station.  This station is on the A-Line and is located at 6045 N. Richfield St. Denver.  They offer local, regional, and airport fares, and even have discounted fares for seniors. The A-Line connects DIA with Denver’s Union Station and is a fun way for active adults to explore city life. Catch a Rockies, Broncos, Nuggets, or Avalanche game, watch the curtain rise at The Denver Performing Arts Center, spend a day at the dozens of museums, check out what’s new at the Denver Zoo, or enjoy a music concert at any of the countless venues downtown.  Catch the free 16th St. Shuttle at Union Station for a fun day of shopping, dining and recreation activities.

The station has a large Park & Ride with 800+ parking spaces, and 600 are beneath canopies that double as solar electric panels. The Park & Ride lot is open 24 hours and costs $3 for 12 hours or $6 per day.  Parking is pre-pay only by using the Pay-By-Phone app on your smartphone.  Download the app in your smartphone’s app store in Google Play and enter Parking Zone #91905.  You can even extend your parking if your travel plans change.  During peak travel times and holiday weeks you can check parking availability for all Denver Park & Rides at www.FlyDenver.com.  Free vehicle services are available for your parked car 24/7 by calling (303) 342-4645 for lockout assistance, a jump start, or tire inflation.

During peak times, the A-Line has stops every 15 minutes with off-peak stops every 30 minutes.  So forget about gas prices and finding a place to park downtown.  Bring a book, listen to a podcast, meet other friendly commuters riding the Light Rail, or just enjoy the view of our spectacular Colorado Rocky Mountains.  So leave your car behind and see how easy it is for homeowners over 55 at The Reserve to explore all that Denver has to offer, and all the places that DIA can take you!

Learn to ride UTA’s TRAX, the Light Rail in Salt Lake City, Utah

UTA TraxUtah’s light rail system, TRAX, makes it easy for active adults over 55 to travel without the hassle and expense of driving. The Utah Transit Authority (UTA) has a station near SpringHouse Village, OakwoodLife’s newest 55+ community, called the Daybreak Parkway Station.  This station is on the Red Line, TRAX Route 703, and is located at 11405 S Grandville Ave. in South Jordan.  They offer one-way, day, and monthly fares, and even have reduced pricing for seniors. The station has a large 400+ car parking lot with free extended parking.  Depending on the day, the TRAX Red Line has stops at the Daybreak Parkway Station every 20 minutes from 5:28am – 11:43pm.  You can even buy your ticket on your smartphone by downloading the UTA GoRide app on your phone’s app store. So forget about gas prices and finding a place to park.  Bring a book, listen to a podcast, or meet other friendly commuters riding the TRAX and enjoy the ride!
