Winter Getaways in Utah

February 11, 2020
Hot Springs in Winter

You may be dreaming of a spring break, but you’ll still find plenty of fun things to do close to home. Utahns know that the fun doesn’t stop just because the temperature drops, so we’ve rounded up the best getaways — from day trips to weekends away!

Soak in a Geothermal Spring

Did you know that within a one-hour drive you can soak in a geothermal spring inside of a crater? It truly is a unique experience! At the Homestead property in the Utah Midway Resort you can scuba dive, take a stand-up paddleboard yoga class, and snorkel — all in warm, soothing waters.

Park City, Even if You Don’t Ski

Now that the Sundance Film Festival is over, Park City is once again a place you can enjoy without the huge crowds! Even if you don’t ski, you’re sure to enjoy almost endless fun in Park City. Stay the night at a resort, pamper yourself in a spa with a hot tub, and enjoy winter the warm way! Of course, if you want to get active outside, trails for snowshoeing, snowmobiling, and dog-sledding are all close by.

Explore Ice Castles

If you have a day with the grandkids, the Ice Castles are the place to go — and, of course, the grandkids are optional! Built by professional ice artists, the castles are constructed using hundreds of thousands of hand-placed icicles. The end result is truly magical, with LED-lit sculptures, frozen thrones, ice-carved tunnels, slides, fountains, and so much more.

Bryce Canyon National Park

Lower rates. No crowds. Cross-country skiing and snowshoeing in some of the most beautiful spots on earth. Have we convinced you to visit Bryce Canyon National Park this winter? You can also have a blast at the Winter Festival over President’s Day weekend thanks to clinics, demos, an exciting ski archery competition, and more!

San Rafael Swell

You may have visited San Rafael Country in the warmer months, but during the winter it’s a quiet place without the crowds. Check out Goblin Valley State Park while the weather is still chilly — you’ll love the special experience of winter camping in the park’s heated yurts! If the roads are in good condition, take a driving tour from Goblin Valley to the northern San Rafael Swell to see the breathtaking Buckhorn Pictograph Panel.
